The terms, in plain words.
These terms are the agreement between you and Sythus for the app and this website. Using Sythus means you accept them.
What Sythus is
Sythus keeps a rhythm of attention. You choose a practice and write your intention, or keep the practice’s own words. At the times you choose, a pulse comes round and you hold your glyph for twenty seconds. Sythus does not promise outcomes: answered means you came back, never that anything came true. It is not medical, mental-health or religious care, and it is not a substitute for any of them.
Your account
Browsing, the Market and the free preview need no account. Your account begins quietly at your first purchase or claimed gift, kept by your phone and its own backup, or by the email on your receipt when you buy on the web. Signing in is optional: you need it only to keep your account on every device and for the public parts of Sythus, which are showing a practice, following and blocking. You must be at least 16 to use Sythus. Keep your sign-in private; what happens under your account is your responsibility.
Practices you buy
A practice is bought once and is yours to use in Sythus for as long as your account exists. You can give one as a gift; you cannot resell or transfer it otherwise. Prices and any tax are shown before you pay. A practice runs for the time it states and then completes. A missed pulse passes; nothing is failed, and no refund is owed for pulses you let pass or for a practice you end early. A practice you bought and never started may fade after a long window, with notice; gifts never fade, and nothing started ever fades. Refunds for app-store purchases follow the store’s rules, and a store refund removes an unstarted practice or completes a running one early. For purchases made on the web, ask within 14 days and before the practice starts.
The Circle
The Circle is a monthly membership, open once you have bought or claimed a practice. It rents spaces that run your practices and begin them again when they complete. It renews each month at the price shown when you join, until you cancel. Cancel from your account or from the store that billed you: the next payment stops, a practice running in a space finishes its cycle, and the spaces then close. If a payment fails, you get a grace period before they close. Partial months are not refunded. Everything you bought and everything in your Archive stays yours, member or not. If the price changes, we tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you.
Gifts
When you give a practice, the person who receives it writes their own words, and you never see them. A gift is paid for when you buy it and becomes theirs when they claim it. If it is declined, or not claimed within 90 days, it comes back to you as itself, ready to begin or to give again, rather than as a refund. A gift carries the practice, never membership.
The hold is yours
A pulse is answered by a person holding it. You agree not to use automation, scripts or any other means to answer pulses for you or for anyone else, and not to offer that as a service. You also agree not to interfere with Sythus, copy how it works, or use it to break the law.
What you write and show
Your words belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them so that Sythus can run and, for anything you choose to show, to display it where you showed it. Everything is private unless you show it. Showing a practice, revealing its words and allowing reactions are separate choices, and a shown page can be opened by anyone with the link, without an account. Anything you show follows the content policy, which you accept the first time you show something, and you are responsible for it.
What belongs to Sythus
The app, the shapes and the private code that draw the glyphs, the listings in the Market, and the Sythus name and logo belong to Sythus or to the people who made them for us. Buying a practice gives you the right to use it in Sythus, not to copy or republish it.
If Sythus changes or stops
Listings come and go from the Market, and some are seasonal, but nothing you own or are running is ever interrupted by that. Sythus may change over time, and we cannot promise it is always available. If we ever close Sythus, we tell you ahead of time and give you a way to take your Archive with you.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time, from Settings. Your Archive, words and glyphs are deleted with it, and this cannot be undone; a gift still on its way returns to its giver first. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the content policy, and if we do, we tell you why.
Our responsibility to you
Sythus is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for losses that come from relying on Sythus for an outcome, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you as a consumer.
Changes, law and contact
If these terms change in a way that matters, we tell you in Notifications before the change takes effect, and using Sythus after that means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, and disputes are heard in the courts there. Questions: legal@sythus.com.
