PRIVACY

Private by default.

LAST UPDATED 3 NOVEMBER 2026

This policy says what Sythus keeps about you, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the app and this website.

What we keep

Your account: the store purchase record or receipt email it is tied to, and your sign-in if you add one. The practices you own and your purchase history. The words you write, the times you chose, the record of each pulse you answered or let pass, and any note you add. If you set beliefs, we keep those too. Your profile: your ID, the display name, avatar, bio and links you choose, who you follow, who follows you, and anyone you block. And the basic technical data any app needs to run and stay secure: device type, app version and crash reports. The free preview keeps nothing.

Why we keep it

To run Sythus: to keep your rhythm, bill you, deliver gifts, and keep the app secure. To answer you when you write to us. For nothing else: we do not use what you write or do in Sythus for advertising, or for anything you have not asked for. Where the law asks us to name a basis, it is our contract with you, our legal duties and, for beliefs, your consent.

Your words

Your words are private. A pulse shows the glyph and the time, never your words, unless you turn that on. No person reads them, and we do not show them, use them in marketing or sell them. If your words point to harming yourself, nothing is blocked or kept as a flag: the app offers support once, and the practice goes on. We would look at private content only if the law required it.

Beliefs

Setting beliefs is optional and never asked. They change the words the app uses with you and which practices the Market shows first; prices, features and your Archive never change. Because a belief is sensitive, we keep it only with your consent, never share it, never use it for advertising, and delete it when you remove it.

What you choose to show

Nothing is shown unless you show it. Showing a practice, revealing its words and allowing reactions are three separate choices, and each can be taken back; unshowing is instant. A shown page opens for anyone with the link, without an account, so treat it as public. Your profile stays private until you sign in and start a practice; after that it can be reached by its link or exact ID, never by search. The person you follow can see that you follow them; who follows you is a list only you see, and nothing is ever counted or announced. A block hides your pages from that account; only going private closes a link.

Notifications

Notifications are optional and are one way a pulse can reach you. Declining them loses nothing: the app keeps the rhythm either way. Only pulses reach your lock screen; everything else waits in the app. We do not use notifications for marketing.

Who we share with

We do not sell your data and we do not run advertising inside Sythus. We share only what is needed with the providers that run it: hosting, payment processing, email delivery and crash reporting. They may use your data only to provide their service to us. The store you buy through handles your payment details; we never see your card number. When you send a gift by email, we use that address only to deliver it and one reminder, and we never read your contacts. We disclose data when the law requires it.

Where it lives, and for how long

Sythus runs on servers in the United States. If you are elsewhere, your data travels there and is protected under this policy. We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your Archive, words and glyphs are deleted within 30 days. Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and nothing else.

This website

The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The only thing it stores in your browser is your light-or-dark choice, and that never leaves your device.

Security

We protect your data with reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects you, we tell you.

Children

Sythus is not for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly keep data about anyone under 16. If you think we have, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can see, download, correct or delete what we keep, from your account settings or by writing to privacy@sythus.com. We answer within 30 days. If you live somewhere with a data protection authority, you can also complain to them. If this policy changes in a way that matters, we tell you in Notifications before it takes effect.
